Are You For Real? is an audio visual composition exploring the common ground between noise and beauty. This occurs in the work musically though combinations of tonality and dissonance, stasis and movement, repetition and progression. Visually, the piece utilises a 15 second found footage fragment of television static and inteference as its sole source material extending the "beautiful noise" theme which exists in the musical piece. It investigates the full visual potential of this material via various recontextualisations and processings such as extended fade ins, overexposure and temporal manipulation.
